i'm getting braces!?

um how do they put the braces,please tell me everything i wnat to know,i get braces soon! i want the 411!

They hurt

Braces act like magnets for food, so you need to keep your teeth especially clean while you have them on. You'll want to brush after meals and be extra careful to get out any food that gets stuck in your braces. Your orthodontist also may give you a special flosser you can use to floss in and around your braces. When your orthodontist changes your wires, ask if you can do a quick floss (it'll be easier without the wires).

You won't have to go on any special diet when you have braces, but you'll want to avoid some foods that are problems for braces. Stay away from popcorn, hard and sticky candy, and especially gum. Sugary sodas and juices can cause a problem, too, because the sugar stays on your teeth and may cause tooth decay. You can have these drinks, but be sure to brush afterward.

Because braces put pressure on your teeth, you might feel uncomfortable once in a while, especially after the orthodontist makes adjustments. If you have pain, ask your mom or dad to give you a pain reliever.

If you ever have a loose wire or bracket, or a wire that is poking you, you should see the orthodontist right away to get it taken care of. If your orthodontist can't find a problem, he or she may give you some soft wax that you can stick on the bracket that's bothering you. Then it won't rub against your mouth.

So braces can be inconvenient, but lots of kids have them and they are definitely worth the trouble. When will you know for sure? On the day your braces are removed and you can see your new and improved smile!

Its really not that bad, it doesnt hurt at all to get them on, getting them off however does hurt. There are lots of choices for braces too...some people get the clear kinds with just the wire thing over them but u have to brush really frequently with those or they'll discolor. I got the kinds where you get to choose colors for bands, i really liked it, i liked getting to choose colors. After a while they'll probably give you little rubber bands to put in, my advice for that is actually wear it for as long as they tell you to. I didnt wear mine as often as i should have and i ended up getting them off a lot later than i had expected. anyways its no big deal these days, practically every teen has or has had braces. you also get to miss out on parts of school for orthodontist appointments (like every month or two) so yeah it was neat. Just remember to brush regularly and really get the bristles in between the braces to get food and junk out. Brush close to the gums too or you can get puffy gums. Thats basically what i did and my teeth looked priceless when i got them off. anyways have fun, they're really not that bad.

Oh oh I know Ok did you have the little spacer ruber bands yet? if not you have them like for a week. Then You get your braces they put these things on your back teeth and then like stick things on your other teeth. Oh... TAKE LOTS OF ADVIL! They put this thing in your mouth that keeps your lips open because if saliva gets on your teeth, the bracket will fall off. Then you stick your tongue in this tube & it sucks the spit out of your mouth. When they put the brackets on it doesnt really hurt, your mouth gets really sore though because it has to be open for about 1.5-2 hours. But when you go in to get your wires changed, it hurts really bad because to close the brackets, they press down really hard. My advise for reducing the pain as much as possible (which is not alot), push your tongue on the back of your teeth so it's like you are pushing your teeth forward.

Ive got braces they don't hurt until the 2 and 3 day then there fine don't freak out your orthodontist does NOT want to hurt you so just chill

well they hurt for about a week when u first get them on. and each time they get tightened, they dont hurt as bad. the max days they hurt would b 3 days... and u cant eat as much stuff with braces. popcorn is REALLY hard to get off if u get popcorn stuck in them. and a bunch of food gets stuck in between ur brackets. its pretty disgusting. and u hafta brush ur teeth really well, or else u'll have like white spots on them. or ur tooth can turn black, like my friend's. so yeah..

When I got them they used an adhesive paste and stuck the braces right on, then connected them with wires, thats the most painful part if I recall.

well... its tiring.. yeah they put a glue like substance and stick these metal like things.. called brackets on your teeth... then put wiring through them... when you get your brace actually put on.. its very tiring... very... thats the most painful part.. in that its tiring and when you go through months they will put different sizes of wires through them.......thats the most painful part when you wake up the next morning.. your whole set of teeth hurts.... its painful to eat.. kinda difficult to eat with that going on.... and also.. sometimes your wires will move over and poke your side of your mouth and create sores.. thats also painful.. but they should give you wax.. incase that happens.. to ease the pain.. other than that... its all good.

It is painful, long and annoying. That's what I remember, and there is this crunchy cement like sauce that tastes bad!
