Is this a real question?

I am offended by the suggestion of giving a horse colic intentionally. VERY CRUEL and he may take days to die.

Bolt guns are used in slaughterhouses because they don't taint the meat, not because they're humane. The horse's heart can still keep beating. Sometimes it takes more than one try, even when a person is experienced. Also pretty cruel.

Your options to put down a horse is either a vet administering an injection or a VERY skilled person putting a gunshot between the eyes.

What do you mean by "rampant" anyway?

Contrary to poular belief Vets do still shoot horses (not give injections) it's not cruel, it's instantaneous and humane (if not a little violent)... If it's just a behavior problem consult a vet and trainer. If the horse has gone mad then take him to the vet to be put down. I would advise against doing this yourself as laws regarding animal cruelty differ from state to state. Posting an ad is irresponsible if you know that the horse has something wrong with it and can not safely be kept in a corral... Please don't shoot the horse yourself. Contact a vet as soon as possible. Good luck.

Draw an imaginary line from the base of the left ear to the right eye and another immaginary line from the base of the right ear to the left eye. Shoot where the lines intersect. Shoot from about a foot away from the animal's forehead and step quickly away in case the horse flails. If the horse is not dead within about two minutes, shoot it again. Make sure you use a large enough bullet.

If by rampant you mean untameable or mean spirited, there is only one way to deal with this; get him to a horse breaker who uses a "whisperer" among his staff, and leave him there until he has calmed. Killing an animal because it wont do what you want is one of the ways that makes man the predator and killer that he is. If this poor animal is so terrified that nothing can be done, call your local Horse vet and ask his opinion on euthanasia, but please, please, do it as a last resort. Horses are flighty and sensitive, and it just takes one idiot stablehand to handle one badly, for the horse to go a bit nuts- always remember, its not the horse to blame. Very good luck to you.

Go you your vet immediately, do not pass go........... There is always somebody who can help. Killing the poor thing is very much a last resort - I couldn't do it. Get someone to help you and give you advice as I sense desperation in your question. Have you thought of giving him to a good home. Just because he is difficult with you does not mean he is beyond help. I hope I don't get a bullet when I get too old or you. Also, remember killing your horse is not the ideal way to win friends and influence people. Good luck to both you and the horse. XX

don't kill it, work with it so it becomes tame again. a horse is a living being, y'know, not a toy or a piece of sports equipment. there are numerous methods of communicating with difficult horses and rebuilding the trusting relationship a horse needs to its rider - if your horse is rampant it's obviously made a traumatic experience with people and has therefore decided to take over, so what needs to be done is to help the horse overcome the experience. that takes a lot of patience and skill but is usually worth the effort. here are a few methods that might help you:

DO NOT KILL IT!!!

If this horse belongs to you then offer it for free, just put up adds in local stores with billboards, say somethong like "Free horse, needs experienced owner" or something like that. BELIEVE me someone will take it off your hands (I certainly would) and it won't cost you anything and you can't be jailed for it.

If the horse doesn't belong to you, a stray or something, it is ILLEGAL to do anything to it, especcially if you live in one of the western states. You can go to jail for 5 years and or be fined over $2000.

The correct thing to do in this case would be to call animal control, or BLM if you live out west. Even ASPCA or a humane society/pound would be a good idea. They would capture the animal and relocate it, or put it up for adoption.

And if this animal belongs to a neighbor of yours and you are thinkng of killing it, you are one sick, sick person.

Are you having a laugh??!............ If the horse is rampant ther's obviously a gd reason yeah? is it that you have a horse n you dont want it near your's? if so how about talking to the owner or moving your own? no need to kill it man you'll be getting very bad karma.....................

i would try a grenade and maybe a machine gun so you have a better chance of getting a shot and also if you have loads of money try calling in the army to air strike it and maybe tanks will do it but what do i know i never even done it. so give that a try
