For one thing, the scent glands have nothing to do with body odor. They are released like a skunk but don't stick around like it. It's just like a nasty fart, lol. But most ferrets come de-scented so it doesn't really matter anyways.
Don't bathe them unless they really need (they get into something). Just once or twice a year if you have to. The more you bathe them the more they stink.
Ways to keep ferret smell down:
1. Don't bathe too much
2. Keep their ears clean
3. Wash their bedding
4. Feed very high quality food
5.Keep litterbox clean

The more you bathe a ferret, the more it smells...the smell comes from the oil in its skin.
Some friends of mine bathed their ferrets about every three days, and the house reeked of ferret!

my vet says once a month, otherwise their skin tends to dry out. and don't worry about their smell if you don't bathe them, most ferrets are descented and distempered when you get them.

Weekly.
They have glands that make them smell bad-- like a skunk.
So you need to wash them to keep them as friendly housemates, unless you don't mind the smell.

the minimum is once every two wks. Anymore then that and you can clean off natural oils that they need.
