Her Birthday later this week. She wanted Jewellery, I've got her a white gold & diamond pendant, but have got her lots of other things I know she'll love too plus i'm taking to a posh country hotel for lunch. The question is i've just mentally totalled the cost of everything and I'm thinking wouldn't it have been better just to have gone all out on one quality gift?

I was always told that it was the thought that counts. If my hubby only had £5 to spend on my birthday but bought something thoughtful and interesting I'd love it just as much as an expensive necklace and a slap - up meal! your young lady is very lucky, she will love the two fabby treats you have in store for her!!!

I think I'd rather have something beautiful but simple that I could wear all the time rather than some really expensive thing that I'd be too frightened to take out of the box.

Plus you are creating good memories with the lunch and they are the things that keep relationships going through the hard times.

Sounds like the perfect birthday to me. What someone else said about spreading out the gifts is a great idea!

Quality will always win out over quantity. However, I'm sure she'll appreciate the fact that you evidently went to a huge amount of planning and thought over this event. But of course,I'm sure you do realize that it's not all about the gifts and all in a good relationship,as much as the affection and non-critical friendship that we ladies truly crave.

Every girl needs to chalk up one thoughtful admirer in her little black book. You definitely deserve an A for effort. You rock!!!

Quality not quantity. You won't be the only person giving her anything. You can base it on how much you value the friendship, meaning that there are levels of gifts for how close you are with your friend. My best friend and I are usually very happy with at least acknowledging that we have a birthday lol. It depends on your comfort level with the gift. You need to do what you feel the most comfortable doing. Gifts should come from the heart.

The thoughtfulness behind the variety of gifts would impress me. Woman are different in this respect - every gift scores the same amount. So more is better.

I would have been so chuffed with lunch at a posh hotel, memories made together are the best gifts ever.

It's the THOUGHT that counts.

Is it personal? Has she "pointed to it" and said, "oh, I like that?" You have 364.4 days out of the year to look and SEE what she likes! LISTEN, LOOK and study her actions, its not so hard. She gives clues all the times, we all do! This will "clue" you in on her preferences. You already know her opinions and whether she will like what you got her, "so relax" now work on the "loving stuff." The things that will get you the REAL points . . . hehe . . . good luck!

Sound great to me. Finish off by buying her a mirror & telling her she will only see beauty when she looks at this gift.
