I called the doctors office this morning because I have been dealing with a sharp stabbing like pain in my lower left side (close to ovary). They said that a nurse would call me back, but it has been 3 hours and now they are at lunch. Should I be worried enough to go to the ER? I am trying to get intouch with my mother to see if she will go with me. Just not sure if this prompts going to the hospital.

I was told last year that I had a small cyst on my left ovary, but being me I never went back to have it checked out. Now of course, I find out I am pregnant with child #2, and my obgyn retired, so now I have this new doctor which I am not sure that I am pleased with him at all. I am waiting for them to get back from lunch. I am just a tiny bit upset that they did not feel the need to call me back before they went to lunch. This could be etopic, or something of that nature. I believe in their mind, they are like, well, if she is having a miscarriage, there is nothing we can do about it.

A lil update, the doctors office would not see me, they nurse told me I was just fine on the phone. Later the pain starting getting a bit stronger so I went to the ER where I was told that I was bleeding in my uterus and in my left ovary. I am suppost to go to my ob this morning, but I am really mad at them now for not seeing me yesterday as there is a problem and they tried to shove me away.

Hi - I say def go to the hospital because pregnancy's a complicated thing. Cold be anything from a touch of gas, to a miscarriage (God forbid) causing these pains. Off you go, and good luck! Bxx

I am eight months pregnant and around that time of my pregnancy I had a lot of pains like that also, but it worried me too. If it lasts more than an hour at a time I would call my doctor or go to the emergency room. It is better to be safe than sorry. You shouldn't have round ligament pain this early on in pregnancy at least I wouldn't think so anyways. Just be careful, lay down, drink some water and see how you are feeling in about an hour. I'm serious though, if the pain doesn't stop go to the emergency room or at least call and ask them what they think you should do.

Call the Doctors office and tell them that you want to see the doctor talk to the doctor immediately. Don't let them tell you they will call back, tell them that this is now unacceptable. If the doctor thinks it is necessary he wil tell you to come in today or to go directly to the emergency room. If he sends you to the ER, he can call ahead and have a list of tests, etc. that he wants to have done on record and they will be waiting for you.

Don't take no for an answer from the nurse.

I have a 5 week old son and my wife had all manner of aches and pains during pregnancy. It's probably nothing to worry about - trapped wind, changes to your body as the pregnancy progresses - BUT because you're worried you should get it checked out. Ring the doctor/nurse and keep hassling them until they put your mind at ease.
Hope everything else goes well for you.

Sometimes in the first and the beginning of the second trimester you will feel sharp pains and things it doesn't mean that anything is wrong your body is just going through alot of changes. But if the pains worsen then you need to seek medical attention. It probably is just gas or you uterus stretching.

Phone your doctors back and demand to speak to someone. Failing that phone NHS Direct or go to the hospital to get checked over. Hope everything's okay.

Get it checked if your doctor hasn't rung back soon ring NHS helpline they are really helpful and tell you if you should go to hospital or just take it easy. Their number is in the phonebook as long as you arent bleeding you should be fine. Just try and take it easy.

I think you should get yourself to the ER. Sounds like its a stitch or a twingey ligament but don't use guesswork. Could be an ectopic pregnancy, which needs IMMEDIATE investigation.

They could simply be brackston hicks ('false labour') contractions. They can occur at any time in pregnancy.

I would visit the hospital if it were me in your place. Nothing wrong with being on the safe side, especially when you're pregnant.
