I go for a number of reasons: to people watch; to see all the cheesy vendors hawking their wares; for the food, yeah; to listen to a band that's playing (like this year it was Starship; in the past, it's been other "oldie" groups).
Oh, and to write about it for the local newspaper. But, that's secondary. I just love the atmosphere.
