Metallica. You hear their influences across all kinds of genres, and they opened the door for bands like Korn, System of a Down, and Godsmack who would never have gotten on the radio without them paving the way.

For me, Nirvana was not an influence for me because I've been listening to Metallica since before Nirvana waws around. I do see that they did a lot for Rock music, but I was never into Nirvana that much.

Do you mean overall with the majority of musicians out there today?

If so, then Nirvana is LOW on the list. Most of my musician friends count members of Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Motley Crue, the Beatles, and others among their influences.
