I am a newbie to this - but how do I get the Sims 2 downloads like the picture that puts their mood up onto the actual game? I downloaded it from a sight and saved it in my Sims 2 folder in My document - so does this mean it will "automatically" appear in my game when I go to "Buy" Mode?

To make new content that you have downloaded from Internet you need to move the files to: My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads
I don't know what picture you're talking about, with objects sometimes you will need to install another program to be able to see it. Go here,some of the best Sims 2 sites go to their HELP AND FAQs area

If the file you downloaded was a zip or rar file, you need to extract it to C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads. (If you don't have a download folder in the sims 2 directory, you can just make one). After you have extracted the downloaded files, all you have to do is play the game... it should be there in decorative (might not be under pictures... buy you can look under all and you should see it). The objects that you have added to the game/downloaded from online, will have a * on the picture of the object. have you checked the read me files? usualy they are given with the download. its a txt document and these usually tells you what to do. you got to go into the files that make the sims2 in one of your drives usually c: then extract the files into the correct directorys. if not then go back to the site and see if they have any help or information links
