i think its a sensor that goes off if the fuel air mixture is to rich or lean and you have to get the mixture just right to where the light goes off

Several things can trip this code. If your mass airflow meter isn't working right your computer doesn't know the rate of flow of the fresh air going to your engine and can't adjust the mixture. If the Oxygen sensor isn't reading the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gasses, then your computer doesn't know how rich or lean the engine is running. If you have removed the exhaust system and replaced it with too large of pipes this could have tripped the code, ( an engine needs enough back pressure to operate properly, and there is a horsepower drop off after too much flow.) If you have installed a fresh air intake system and not incorporated the airflow sensor into it could cause it. If you have a leaking exhaust, that would be influencing it, too.

If your car is a late model California car it may have a air/fuel sensor rather than a regular oxygen sensor. I know Toyota uses them but I am not sure if Honda does. If your car is a California car check with the dealer before you buy one. The sensors look the same but if you put in the wrong one the light will come back on and since its used you cant return it to a parts store.

Usually the air/fuel mixture is measured by the oxygen sensor. The voltage output of the sensor varies based on the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas. This voltage is measured by the computer and then it adjusts the amount of fuel to get to the desired ratio.

I had to replace a mass air flow sensor in my Chevy Blazer not too long ago. About $300 - but it mixes the correct amount of air with the fuel that goes into your engine. I ignored my check engine light until I pulled out in front of a semi one day and my Blazer would only go about 30 mph max. That scared me enough - I went to the Chevy dealer the next day and had it replaced.

you have to get your Oxygen Senson Checked. take it to an Autozone near you. They check it for free. if that is the case you will need to replace you oxygen sensor. do this as soon as possible.
