I’m currently interviewing with a company that is planning to hire me after they finish a background check. As part of the background check they will be contacting all the employers listed in my resume.
Is it okay to warn my former bosses via an email instead of calling them? I have a couple of reasons for emailing instead of calling.
1.I can avoid awkward “catching up on things” conversations
2.I can poise my thoughts better in an email
3.It’s simply easier
4.If I call, I may get voicemail instead of the actual person. I don’t want to have to leave an awkward voicemail message.
On the down side, emailing is less personal and may not leave as good an impression. What do you think? Is emailing acceptable?
