They eat the leaves of many trees including gambel oak. They are also called the cankerworm.

Inchworms came in many varieties. Different species eat different types of food. All are herbivores however, typically feeding on trees, mostly fleshy leaves, but some will also feed on conifers, and shrubs. Like I said it depends on the species in question!
