u could try bringing it up with your local mp, personally i think we need some anti bullying laws in the workplace and the more u mention it to local papers and your mp - the more likely it is to feedback to the top, at the moment homosexual, lesbian and ethnic minorities are protected underseparate legislation but normal people are fair game in this country
which is probly why the law has become a joke ;o)
it should go to tribunal definitely, at tribunal u can represent yourself

If you have "proof", I would go to the press. Present the story to an investigative reporter, and remain an anonymous source.
But when it was going on, I would have not "covered" for the person. If they were bullying me, I would have reported the person, and been up front about it. It is illegal for them to 1) keep them employed without a reprimand and 2) have the information and not act on it. If you would have attached a name to the complaint, you would have legally bound the company to holding the person accountable. But just complaining, and doing it without names, all they can do is treat it all as "hear say" and nothing more. They can't act if they don't have a victim. Just stating it without acknowledging your name, they don't have a "victim". So I think both the company (or whatever it is) and you and your coworkers are all at fault for the continuation of the bullying.

It may be worth going to your local law society and having a chat with some of the advisor's there, I would also suggest that you may want to talk to one of the workers unions i.e basically to complain about your union being very unsupportive (start by contacting the socialist worker magazine they are bound to have many contacts). They may want to take your case on for you as the crux of the argument sounds like your employer has failed to protect you in your workplace. In proceedings of this nature I believe that it is the businesses responsibility to prove otherwise, (differs from criminal law) Finally as long shot you could find out which barristers firm Cherie Blair works for, the very top barristers occasionally take on very important cases for free where the plaintiff cannot afford counsel (this could be because it is in the interests of justice or for other special reasons) You may also want to contact charites, as anti-bullying charity's may help lobby the people and create interest in the matter and may help you progress the issue. Also I think that the business threatening you is quite possibly illegal, you may be in for a long ride but it will be worth it i you stick it through as what you do could save thousands of people from misery and stress caused by problems such as this. You could indeed be responsible for setting a legal precedent!!

This sounds like the normal pattern of things, I too have had over six months off with stress related depression due to bullying.
Social Services, policies and proceedures for Bullying seem to be a lot of crap, no one really wants to, nor is willing to deal with it really, they offered me re-deployment, which I took, but waiting for an equiry to take place and everything left me isolated and stressed, and the person whom I complained on is given promotion, so my faith in the services is nil. It seems the more of a bully you are, the further you go up in the ranks!
