Hey there.

I'm 20 and I'm worried that I might be going deaf very slowly!
Since I was 8 months old, I had problems with my ears. I had double ear infections atleast once a month, and had tubes put in my ears twice, when I was 3 and 5.
As I got older, they were worried I might lose some hearing only because of all the problems I had in the past.
Well, when I was 13, I had a tympanoplasty done (had the hole in my right ear closed from the tubes) because the hole had never closed on it's own.
For some reason, the surgery was unsuccessful not even a half year later due to my sinuses (really bad pressure)

Now as I get older, I haven't been to my ENT (ear nose throat) Dr. for quite a few years now - and haven't had my ears tested - but I feel like I might actually be going deaf!
Most recently I realize the tv has to be louder - and if there is sound around me, I can't understand what is being said.

Even in music, too much background music - I can't understand the lyrics. Help?

Hon, there is nothing we can do. You need to get yourself to an ENT asap! Don't let this drag out or something that may be correctible might become permanent damage. You are too young to have to live the balance of your life hearing impaired, if it can be avoided. The only way to really know what is going on is to see an ENT. Please go and keep me posted (click on my avatar for my email) on how things turn out.
