the best kind of computer is one that you have made yourself. if you don't know how to build your own computer, there are plenty of people out there who will do it for you. for movie making you will need a lot of memory and hard drive space and a decent video card.
a top of the line CPU isn't exactly necessary but would make life much easier. as far as hard drive space goes, since movies can take up a lot of room (i am making this recommendation on the basis that you will have lots of them) i would recommend a minimum of a 150 GB hard drive with a SATA 3.0 or 150 interface. Since money is no object for you i would recommend at least one western digital raptor X (see http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822136011)
possibly more if you want. but be warned. they are EXPENSIVE. as far as what is considered a lot of space, the highest internal drive i have seen is 750 GB and the biggest external I've seen is 1TB(1000GB). I have seen people with 3-4 750GB hard drives in RAID 0 configurations effectively giving them 3TB of memory but, in all reality, no one is EVER going to use that much space (unless it is on a server). Any way, in lieu of video cards, i would recommend a pair of Quadro FX3450's (see http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814133169), a pair of GeForce 7950 GX2's(see http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127212) or a pair of ATI X1900XTX 's (see http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814131003). But again. the are all top of the line options and are very expensive (since money is no object). for processors, i would recommend getting one of the Intel core 2 duos because they are the absolute best. for ram, i would recommend at least 2GB's but for true top of the line performance get 4GB. also, be sure it is the DDR2 type. And finally, you will need a massive power supply for this all, probably at least 600 watts, probably closer to 800 if you can afford one after all this. Hope this helps!
