You'll Always Be My Baby - Sara Evans
You'll Always Be My Baby Sara Evans lyrics
Artist: Sara Evans
Album: Real Fine Place
Year: 2005
Title: You'll Always Be My Baby
There I was ten years old
Waiting in my room for him to come home
I just knew he'd be so mad
Though I begged my mother not to, she told my dad.
There was no denying I let him down
But instead of being angry
He put his arms around me and said
In the sunlight or the rain brightest nights or darkest days
I'll always feel the same way
Whatever road you may be on
No your never too far gone my love is there wherever you may be
Just remember that you will always be my baby.
There I was twenty one
Oh I was so ashamed of what I'd done
On a country road
Parked one night
It started out so innocent
Then crossed the line
There was no denying
I let God down
But instead of being angry
He wrapped his arms around me and I heard
In the sunlight or the rain brightest nights or darkest rains
I'll always feel the same way
Whatever road you may be on
No your never too far gone
My love is there wherever you may be
Just remember that you will always be my baby yeah yeah.
There he is my little man
I'm sure he'll get in trouble every now and then
And I pray to god that when he does
I'll be just as understanding
And my father was oh the last thing that I want to do is let him down
So instead of being angry
I'm gonna throw my arms around him and I'll say
In the sunlight or the rain brightest nights or darkest rains
I'll always feel the same way whatever road you may be on
Noo your never too far gone
My love is there wherever you may be
Just remember that you will always be my baby be my baby

Simple Man
Lynyrd Skynyrd
(Almost Famous Soundtrack)
Mama told me when I was young
Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say.
And if you do this
It will help you some sunny day.
Take your time... Don't live too fast,
Troubles will come and they will pass.
Go find the woman and you'll find love,
And don't forget son,
There is someone up above.
(Chorus)
And be a simple kind of man.
Be something you love and understand.
Be a simple kind of man.
Won't you do this for me son,
If you can?
Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your soul,
And you can do this if you try.
All that I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.
(Chorus)
Boy, don't you worry... you'll find yourself.
Follow you heart and nothing else.
And you can do this if you try.
All I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.
(Chorus)

well child of mine is a themed song about a parent singign to their child. The recording is sung by a woman but my father used to sing it to me when I was younger. If your looking for a genre of music that you cna just both listen too, go with something that is on the soft rock end, classical can work too.

There are a couple of Paul Simon songs involving mothers and children...
Mother and Child Reunion -- Paul Simon
Loves Me Like a Rock -- Paul Simon (Oh, my momma loves me, she loves me, she gets down on her knees and hugs me...)
Bridge Over Troubled Water -- Simon and Garfunkel (This song doesn't mention a mother or a child in it, but it is very appropriate and it gets me every time.)

"Mother and Child Reunion" by Paul Simon and "Teach Your Children" by Crosby, Stills and Nash. For fun how about "Mammas Don't let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. That's what popped into my head after reading your question.
