While Nextel and Sprint are now a single company, they are still 2 separate networks. Confusing, right? Sprint uses PCS (CDMA) technology, while Nextel uses iDEN. According to Sprint, all this means is that Sprint 2-way users cannot talk to Nextel 2-way users via DirectConnect PTT. However, they claim that phones (Sprint or Nextel) will continue to work seamlessly on both networks for years to come. So the answer is YES, according to Sprint you can use a Nextel phone with a Sprint account, and vice-versa. Read the source link I have included...

Hope that helps!
