I don't know but that's a good question. I hate to see dead animals on the wall as trophies!

After people hunt and kill a deer, they like to put it on their walls as a trophy. The reason why it's illegal to have as a pet (in most places anyway) is because deer are used for meat- not pets. These animals are not pet material like some other animals used for food like pigs and goats. They also sometimes travel in small groups- it's not right to restrict a non-domestic animal.

in Kentucky you can obtain a wild animal license, and keep them, check your state and see if you can

every private owner i have ever known to keep a deer as a pet bad things have happened to the deer...it is impossible to keep them inside the house where they are safe & wild animals get to them in any kind of pen imanigable...they do not agree with horses and goats and sheep, and can not live with them and end up in a chain link dog kennel, where they die...I would much rather see a deer on a wall (even though it is discusting to hang a dead animal on a wall) than a deer in a dog cage.

Hunting is a sport that humans have embraced for generations now. Killing something legally is just fine.

Now, when it comes to a human taking care of something as extravagent and high mainteanance as a deer there must be laws put down. You see the way people abuse cats and dogs. Deer are untamable creatures, and it is highly unnatural to keep them as pets.

But kill em, thats cool.

A dead deer makes a dull, uninteresting pet. Also the embalming costs are prohibitive.
The serious answer is that they may become dangerous, are too big, and your estate is probably not large enough to keep the animal healthy.

i feel your pain, and heres a few soloutions on how I fool those annoying animal control inspectors.
1.)Tie fake floppy ears to their heads and call them sparky
2.)Train them to stay perfectly still, cut a hole in the wall, and stick their head in so it pokes through the other side.
3.)Tell the Animal Control Officers that you're hiding it in your basement from the deer nazis...

All of these are great methods, but do remember to be careful, deer rabies is no joke!!!!

Because a live deer is dangerous, can spread diseases, and attracts other predators that you would not want near your home.

Because they are not domesticated and pose a danger in a residential enironment. Hunting is a allowed, because overpopulation leads to death of many of them anyway from starvation or encroaching in residential areas.
