Reggie White was extremely homophobic and made many public statements to that effect. What if he had made racist statements? If a white player had made anti-black or anti-semitic remarks would he deserve to be inducted? What if OJ Simpson killed his wife BEFORE he was inducted would he deserve to be inducted into the Hall?

Reggie White is dead, one less bigot. Praise God. If only he had never been born. The world is better off without him.

What players do on the field should be what qualifies them for the Hall. I thinnk Pete Rose should be in the Baseball Hall of Fame because he's the greatest hitter of all time. Reggie's statements were a bit abrasive, but do they rub people so badly that they would ignore his nearly 200 sack career? I hope not! I loved watching Reggie being a Tennessee fan and all that, so I may be a bit biased. Either way, I miss Reggie. May he rest in peace!

No, the NFL Hall of Fame induction is determined on merit, not on morals. The people in there are in there because they were better at the sport than most people, so they get to go into the Hall of Fame. Their personal beliefs have nothing to do with it. I'd bet some of the people who played in the 20s and 30s and are in the HOF were extremely racist, but that didn't stop them, they got in on merit.

Also, does it matter what we think? He's already in, so crying about it now is pointless, and we didn't get a choice in his getting in or not anyway.

racism didn't bar many of the first from the Hall, so why should questionable remarks about gays? Let's be serious, you really think that homophobia and racism are on the same level? Gays are more widely accepted than the black quarterback. I guess the next question you'll ask is should Warren Moon not have been inducted because of him and his ex-wife's very public arguement. back off dude.

RIP Reggie White, great player, great man

Being a Green Bay Packer fan and a fan of Reggie White I believe being inducted to both the Packer and Canton Hall of fame was for what? Oh yes his football skills and how he handles himself on the football fields. Too many young uneducated people ask such insensitive questions, it was a thrill and honor for his wife and children to see their love and hero honored in this way, depending on his abilities not his words, but I could care less about racist type wording what will be will be.

I don't think that just being a jerk should preclude you from being inducted into the hall of fame. Maybe if they commited a felony, or were proven to use steroids, but not just because of their attitudes. There are an awful lot of atheletes that are/were jerks, just like there are a lot of jerks who aren't atheletes. It has no bearing on their sport achievements. It's unfortunate, but it happens. There are very few people in the public view that don't have someone mad at them for some reason.

The hal of fame is there to recognize athletic greatness and disregards personal beliefs, so in short I would say yes

Also worth noting is that Reggie is highly religious and is an ordained minister. The majority of Christian sects in the US highly oppose homosexuality and belief publicly that it is wrong. Reggie is in tuned with that and while it may be politically debatable, he should not be not inducted for these statements.

Reggie White made statements about his religion, he was a minister who was performing his function.

The NFL should not be a referendum on political correctness. White was a great football player and a good man. My only regret is that he did not play for the Cowboys.

What a player does off the field should not keep him from the Hall - OJ, Pete Rose, or Reggie.

i dont think that should keep him from the hall of fame cuz it has nothing to do with what he has done in sports. However it is messed up that he said homophobic statements.

Everyone has their own beleifs but when you go to work they are put aside! Reggie kept his coments on his own time so I think he shouldnt be effected in the HOF voting!
