I don't blame you. I wouldn't like to babysit for strangers either. I started babysitting a few years ago. I told someone at my child's school that I was sitting, and the next week I heard from one of the teachers. I kind of knew the teacher, from volunteering at the school, so she wasn't a complete stranger. You should talk to anyone you know and let them know you are babysitting. Word usually gets around quickly because there seems to be a shortage of childcare at the moment (at least in my town).

If you belong to a church or something of that nature, a community center, etc, there usually is a bulletin board where you cna post stuff like that. Just put "Babysitter avaliable" and list your name, age, phone, grade and school, and special qualities(CPR certified, etc). When someone calls you to babysit, ask if you can come over to meet the family and the kids before actually sit for them. It works really well.

Also, if you have a good relationship with your younger siblings(?) teachers or if you still are in contact with your old teachers, ask if you can put a sign in their classroom or in the school.

Good luck with babysitting. Also, taking a CPR or babysitting class wouldn't hurt either!!

I would put an ad in the papers as: wanting a babysitting job, but want to get to know the parents first and go from there.

Since you don't have relatives here, you can try putting fliers and papers in people's mailbox's and say your babysiteer looking for a child to babysit. If you have a neighboor with a child you can try to but I think you should put a papers out and be sure to check who your babysitting before babysitting. =)

You could start by checking your parents and relatives network of friends. My sister babysat for a friend of our stepdad's cousin's wife ( I know, it sounds weird). But, at least that way you have a little info about the people to go on. Sometimes, the adults in your life can put you in touch with a variety of people in need of a babysitter, including friends, co-workers, or relatives outside of your immediate circle.

It is good, however, that you have correctly figured out that posting ads in random places is not the best way to go. Doing so puts you in danger, and can endanger the children as well if you are too young to attend to them properly.

`A friends baby sibling perhaps? but then it's like what's the point? An aunts or uncles kids? Babysitting your next door neighbors kids won't kill you ya know.

print out a couple of flyers, or make an ad in your local newspaper, saying your age, level of responsibility, and phone number. Hope I helped!
