It's a decent entry level desktop. It will let you burn CDs but you will only be able to watch DVDs. The memory is a little low (you can probably upgrade at a later date to 1GB) for some of the games out there but if you're looking for a basic home computer it should be just fine. While the processor is also on the "slow" side, for basic home computing needs (surfing the internet, emails, balancing checkbooks, etc.) you won't have any problems.

While this system might be a significant step up from what you have now, and it is a good price, you might want to try a different system. My problem I have with emachines is that, when I had one, it was barely upgradeable.. and that is something that's very important in today's computer world.

you can get a Dell for same price and it will hold its resale and be a better quality PC. Emachines resale is terrible because its junk. you may even pay a little more for a Dell but it will come back to you in the end in resale and quality

I checked it, is not so greate, because of the CPU, this system has a low speed CPU. I recommaned you buy from HP.com
Check at this link.
http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cto/computer_customize_components.do
and customize your own PC, the starting price was $249.99

I recommand you choose Intel Pentium D (means Dure Core, Single CPU has two chips on it)
IGB memory and the rest is upto you.
