The novel and the movie aren't connected at all, no.
And I, also, found the movie to be preferable to the novel, far preferable in my case- the movie provided that rarest of beasts, actual creepiness and spooks in a movie. I was surprised.

I DONT THINK SO
MAYBE, I WASNT REALLY PAYING ATTETION TO THE CREDITS.
BUT THE MOVIES IS GREAT, IS FREAKING SCARY
