My 10 month old son shows NO intrest what so ever crawling or even walking. He hates to be on his stomache, and shows no intrest of pulling himself up on anything. Is this ok before I drive myself crazy?

don't worry...my 16month daughter didn't do any crawling till just before her first birthday. and still is not walking on her own. many children now skip crawling no longer considered a growth milestone. and they say as long as they are walking by 2 they are still in the age range for normal

No, its normal. My oldest daughter, is now 8. She never did anything. She didn't crawl, walk, or even creep. At 11 1/2 months all the sudden one day she crawled.. then the next day she decided to try walking and that was that. She has been walking ever since. She literally just crawled that one day. Now, she is not a risk taker at all. She is more of a book worm and is not at all athletic.

I have a 5 year old daughter that was crawling at 6 months and walking at 10 months. She is not academically inclined at all. But this girl can play sports better than most boys older than her. I bet your son will be more of a scholar than an athlete... Don't worry, when your son is ready he will do just fine! Good luck!

It is absolutely normal. Babies will crawl/walk when they are ready. The guidelines you hear from people are just average and if your baby doesn't fit those average, it doesn't mean there's something wrong with him.

My suggestion though is to keep up with tummy time as this helps baby develop the proper muscles in order to crawl. You don't need to frustrate yourself or him by making it too long. Just 5 minutes several time a day is enough. My son hated tummy time too...so you'll have to distract with his favorite toys and just do what you have to. Good luck!

Make sure you do not hold your child all the time. Give them space and they will crawl when the want to. Some children skip the crawl and go straight to walking. Your child just may be special. Have fun after they learn to walk they run and that gets fun.

Some babies don't pull themselves up to stand until later. Average age is 6-12 months (see sources section below). So, it could be normal. Is he developing in other areas? Some babies are more interested in talking or in fine motor skills. That could be the reason he's not interested in standing yet. If you're worried, ask for a referral to a developmental specialist; a pediatrician is *not* an expert.

All babies start at different stages. i wouldn't worry about. Don't drive yourself crazy thinking that your child is behind. Just let him/her cry when on the belly. Try putting toys infront of your child or lay on the floor infront of your child like face to face and sing/play games that way your baby will have more fun while having belly time at the same time. Good luck and enjoy this time that spend with your baby it goes real fast.

10 months is still pretty young. He does need more tummy time, even if it is just on the bed. Have you considered getting him an exersaucer, or a bouncer or walker to let him exercise his little legs. I wouldn't worry, just keep putting him on his tummy unless he's wailing. You've got about 6 months before worrying too much.
