My remedy is ONLY for excessive wax buildup in your ears.
NOT if you are experiencing pain or have an Ear Infection...for that you should see your doctor.

Do NOT try to use Q-tips!
All they will do is leave behind a lot of their "threads" in the wax that is causing the clog.

Go to the drugstore and buy one of those Ear Cleaning kits that has the squeeze bulb in it.
Like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AMG8SG/102-8775207-7612912?v=glance&n=3760901

The drops are ok to use but I have long since stopped using the drops and simply do this about once every week or two or when I know I have wax built up in my ears:

To put it simply, this will "flush" ear wax that might be the cause of that annoying "clog" out of your ears

1) fill a wash basin with warm water (not hot)
(remember, the water will be contacting your sensitive ear drums)
2) fill the bulb syringe with water
3) turn one of your ears down toward the basin
4) insert the end of the bulb into that ear, not too far but far
enough that ALL the water will go into the ear.
(careful: not so far that you might make contact with your ear drum)
**squeeze the bulb firmly to eject the water quickly so that there is "pressure" behind the stream of water to allow the flushing action.
5) let the water run out..it will flush out the wax in your ear.
6) repeat with the other ear.
7) DO NOT use a Q-tip but a thin, wet, washcloth and use a
finger to stick the washcloth in your ear to "soak up" some of
the water left in your ear, the rest will evaporate normally.
CAUTION: do NOT use toilet tissue to soak up the water..you'll still have some wax residue left on the sides of your ears and some of the toilet tissue could attach itself to that wax.
CAUTION: only squeeze water about 3 or 4 times in each ear so you won't do it too much to hurt your eardrums.

Excess ear wax is a very common problem and I've had it practically all my life, the above solution is what I've found that is the most effective for me.

NOTE: I am NOT a doctor. Just someone who, like many others, has had this annoying problem and I've found over the years that this is the best solution for me.
I hope it works for you also.

EDIT: saw your added notes.
Well, if you're experiencing a Sinus infection it would seem that seeing a doctor and getting antibiotics was the right thing to do.
After 7 days of no relief however you should contact the same doctor and tell him his prescribed medication is not working. He should then give you something else to try...there are different medications he can give you..most work, some, like the one you tried, may not.
Good luck!

I have this problem also. Several times the doctor or nurse has washed my ears out. I am going to do this at home with the ear kit from the drugstore. It seems like it would be a simple thing that anyone could do.

Hmm, are you talking about excessive ear-wax built-up? Ear-candling is a painless way to remove ear-wax. Biosun ear-candles are highly recommended. Don't use any parafin candles because the wax will drip into your ears when you burn them. When using ear-candles, make sure you have someone to do it for you. Follow the instructions provided with each pair of candles. If you are having ear-infections or prolifirated ear-drums, please don't use as it will make your ears worse. Go to a professional because that's the best. He or she can perform facial lymphatic drainage to remove blood impurities which is good together with the treatment.

For sinus infection maybe try to stop eating dairy products (or switch to goats milk/cheese instead), drink more water, and try eucaplytpus inhalations... Also drink more bottled water as good for you in general. It may be linked to nutrition and general well-being.

Also, never tried this, but hopi ear candles are supposed to be good for ear wax?

Hope this helps and you feel better soon.
