I have tried putting old pyracantha (very prickly) twigs across all known/evident routes of access, the cats merely pick their way through/across.
I have tried a couple of plants that cats are said to dislike, 'my' cats don't know they are supposed to dislike them.
I believe I have heard of so called TIGER SPRAY but I would like a user opinion before I search for it. If any cats care to answer the question...honestly, then I would be pleased to hear from them especially.

Try orange peels. Most cats dislike orange peels a great deal and will avoid them. You can line your garden with them - completely organic and you don't have to guard your garden with a hose 24/7!

I actually bought a trap. The lady on the other side of my backyard fence has SEVEN CATS!!!!

So what I've been doing is trapping the cats, terrorizing them for a day (i.e., yelling at them in the cage and shaking the cage (not too violently, but just enough to scare them)) and releasing them. They run full speed outta my back yard. I've caught two and am waiting to see if the others come. I'm hoping they'll get the message after a few months. My problem is they come inside my home and eat my cat's cat food. Now that makes me mad since I buy the good stuff (Science Diet) for my cats and I'm not sure what the lady buys but it must not be too good because her cats come to my house and eat!!!

Cats are cats and will continue this behavior in all probabilty. You can try a product called Shake A Way (available at Ace Hardware and on the Web); use the kind specifically used to rid the area of dogs and cats. It's fairly good so it might work. You must keep on spreading it though, especially after it rains. Otherwise, you may just have to live with it. Please don't harm the cats, as they are only doing what is natural for them.

Regards, the cat

Sprinkle cayenne pepper around the area you don't want them to go. If you are handy, you can rig a motion activated switch on a sprinkler that will spray the cats with water whenever they come around.
If you want to be mean get a "havahart" trap and capture the offending kitty and take it to the humane society. My source also has other remedies for keeping cats away.

Lillies there have been quite a few severe profile circumstances of cats being poisoned by ability of lillies. A Siamese cat died in Britain after brushing previous a vase of decrease lillies offered from a food market. The pollen from the lillies fell onto the cats coat and the cat changed into poisoned by ability of ingesting the pollen even as grooming. The cat's family participants had no idea of the probability posed by ability of lillies and were devastated to lose their cat in such an avoidable way. I also comprehend of a kitten who those days changed into rushed to the vets upon getting pollen on his face. The vet changed into unaware that lillies were so risky to cats. All aspects of the lilly are particularly poisonous to cats. This incorporates Lilly flora (which include peace Lillies) besides as bouquets of decrease plant existence. to suitable

Also get rid of plants in your yard that may attract them. Like lemon grass. Home Depot also has a spray that has red pepper and oil that is supposed to repel cats and dogs.

You do know that your new friends are keeping rabbits and voles and such out of the garden? Just by their very presence.
One thing about us, we do not respond well to punishment but when given a better thing to do we will often abandon the previous behavior for the new. Find out where these cats live and present their personal assistant with the gift fo a starter catnip plant. show her where she should plant it in her yard. Cats should stick to home.
Thank you for not wanting to shoot a couple of harmless creatures.

Get some large clear lemonade/pop/ soda bottles, fill them with water and scatter about the garden. I think it's their own distorted reflections thats supposed to scare them. Failing that a soft pellet air pistol aimed at the body not the head, works every time!

Cats always sniff the ground before they dig and therefore ordinary household white pepper sprinkled around soon puts them off. Mind you, you have to keep using it but it works. They also hate citrus fruit so put orange, lemon, lime etc., skins around, but the pepper works best and is the most humane.

Tiger Poo! It stinks like hell but the smallest amount will do the job. I'd advise you get it from your nearest zoo as tigers get a little Pi55ed when you sneak up on them with a pooper scooper
