Well three of my freinds and I are moving into a house. The bedrooms are 130 sqft, 130, 110, and 100 sq ft. Two of the guys and I agree that we should draw straws, or do it completely by luck. However one of the guys is adamant on getting one of the big rooms. No matter what I try to negotiate, he won't budge. Now, changing the rent price is out of the question. Basically we would all like the big rooms, but in fairness, we want to do it by luck. How do I solve this problem?

The real aim in this home is that you are
all sharing the expenses. Being friends
is the huge bonus. He really wants the
biggest room. I say let him have it. The
way I see it is he'll have the most to clean.
So, your going to benefit. It may not
seem fair. A true friend supports and
provides fairness, just being mature about
it is your best defense. In the end after you
start moving in he might change his mind.
Enjoy your home.

Why shouldn't the person who wants the larger room pay more in rent? Pro-rate the rent per square foot so that he pays more. If he wants it, he should pay for it. Or he should let you draw straws for it. Or have the person who has the larger room do more chores around the house. He could have to put the trash out, cut the grass, dust the living room, etc. if he doesn't want to pay more money for getting a larger share of the apartment.

Just give him the room. Make him provide the main room furnishings or TV or something.

SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF YOUR PROBLEMS IF YOU CAN'T AGREE ON ROOMS AND ARE ALREADY HAVING PROBLEMS. MAYBE YOU SHOULD'NT MOVE IN TOGETHER.
