Well, obviously to have AOL as your internet sevice, it will cost the monthly fee, but if you don't have AOL, downloading AIM (which is basically the same thing) is free, and you can get it from www.aim.com just find where it says download. you'll have to create a screename, but it's 100% free.

No, you can download it and run it for free... there ARE extras that cost money... like you can buy animated emoticons with sound... etc.. but the basic service is free.

you can download it for free, but i dont like the new aim triton. it looks way different and is harder to use in my opinion that the slighter older version. on www.aim.com underneath the large "download now" button, there is a small link that says "looking for classic aim? download 5.9 now." That is what i recommend using.

Nope. And they have changed policy to be free to all broadband and DSL users and lowered rate for dial-up. That is for all of their services not just im.
