the policy handbook says excessive absences will not be tolerated but no specifics we get2 vac days and 2 personal after 1 year, i missed 3 days last month because of the floods we had in upstateand the roads were closed we were a state of emergency and they said i could have came in if i were a real company person instead of staying home

That isn't necessarily true. It depends on the policy of your employer. Some employers offer sick and vacation time as part of your benefits, but others don't offer any paid time off. If you miss a lot of work and it affects the business adversely, they will fire you.

Not a chance. If your company has a good policy, you will get 2 weeks vacation, 5 sick day, and 5 personal days. They should however not have fired you without warning you that you have been missing too much work.

And you believed this? You have only as much sick leave and days off as you were specified when you entered your employment. NO where am I aware of that would ever allow a woman a day off every month for her period -- that is just downright silly. For doctor's appointments, going to the hospital, things like that -- yes.

Where do you live and where do you work? I've never heard of time off for that. Maybe however told you that was hoping you'd get fired. Sounds like it worked.pl.tell

Someone lied. If your on a Union job such a thing could be written into the contract. but it is doubtful.

If you need a day off just because you have your period, you should really talk to your gynecologist.
