Yes but you don't want send anything that will be too big. All you need is your friend's mobile carrier network address to do it.
For example - I have T Mobile and the network address is my area code/phone [e-mail] - [[e-mail]]

Yeah like he said but I think if the message is to big the cell phone will not receive.
