honestly, i feel that the separation in 47 was pointless. pakistan hasnt really achieved anything by doing so, except for the power hungry few who ended up running the country for their own benefit...India still has MAJOR muslim population that have representation in parliament, and live peacfully in their areas (central mumbai, calcutta, etc). They can live in peace together, (except for the random violence in gujrat which is two-sided stupidity).
Pakistan has created a pseudo-islamic state that is not self-sufficiently producing for its people, relies heavily on trade, and has a very corrupt banking and government.
We must also recall that musharraf took over the country with a coup, also not islamic, nor democratic, but received 850million dollars from USA for using "airspace"...As long as we have a military general runnin the country, this nuclear standoff is going to be dangerous..
Both countries can gain from cooperating together, if they could only let their egos down for a minute and stop playin one-up
thats all
(yes i know i ignored the kashmir issue completely)

India is such a country of people who actually WILL sacrifice their OWN CITIZENS and not be worried about their families. They START wars then they blame everything on Pakistan. Also, they get the U.S.A. in their group and they go AGAINST the Muslim State Of Pakistan.

there are two aspects of the situation. one is political and other is local people of both countries.
politically , the so called betterment of situation b/w both d countries is only superficial just bcoz of international pressure.
but if v consider the situation of people of both countries, then there is definetely a betterment. the hatred has gone down considerable. people of both countries like 2 live peacefully.
but again there is no political will 2 solve some critical issues like terrorism and kashmir.
india says as long as terrorism is there , it is not possible 2 resolve kashmir issue. pakistan says as long kashmir issue is there, it is not possible 2 resolve terrorism issue.
so here is a deadlock.

It will get worse, then better, then worse, then better..... India and Pakistan have enjoyed battling each other off and on for several decades. Both should give up claims to Kashmir and allow it to become independent.
