Kind of a bold statement to make. Hendrix used a ton of distortion, and that was part of what made him so great, but that takes a little away from the "rock and roll" aspect. Eric Clapton is a better example of a guitarist who was great and also sang vocals, and probably had a better voice than Hendrix. Don't get me wrong, I think Jimi was great, but I'm not so willing to give him that best ever status just yet.

Yeah, if only he coulda kept that damn needle out his arm, He could be the greatest rock legend ever. I think there are some other guitarists who might be more technically skilled than Jimi, but nobody played with as much soul and fervor as he did. He poured his heart into every performance (all the ones I've seen anyway).

if you consider the blues to be a form of rock, and i do, then even as great as hendix was, he would bow before the true king, ERIC CLAPTON !!!
