I'm going to Sophia University (Jouchi Daikgaku) in Tokyo Japan this fall. The company kyoritsu that i initially applied to, i recently found out only offers single rooms! I don't want to live by myself, I was hoping for a japanese roommate so that I can practice speaking with him. At this point I'd even settle living with another foreignor, I can't live in tokyo alone for a year! Anyone have a suggestion? Or know a company that sets up students with host families or dorms in the ciyoda-ku area? I tried ciee and yfu, they said they wouldn't help me either.

Try this website, it may give you a starting point, but it may be a very difficult quest do do from over here and maybe you should go out a couple of weeks earlier, stay in a backpackers hotel, mingle with locals and see if you can find anything that way. Good luck.
