Hey girl..
I waited tables for 4 years during college & was a trainer for new employees.
My best advice would be to be yourself & be very attentive.
By this I mean, be quick to refill drinks, & quick to bring special requests (i.e extra salad dressing, napkins, silverware).
As long as you get what your customer needs in a timely manner they will be happy with their service.
Also, try to remember repeat customers, this will make them feel special and appreciated for dining in the restaraunt.
My advice for you would be to not take the rude customers too seriously. Don't let them get you discouraged. You will come across some very rude people, but the nice ones who appreciate what you do will make up for it.
Hope this helped.. good luck

Be friendly, smile, be attentive. While you're walking through your tables to turn in an order or bringing one out, kind of scan all your other tables to see if anyone looks like they need a refill on a drink or anything else. As soon as you can, go and ask them. If you're working in a restaurant where you have regulars, find out their names from other people who've been working there. People like it when you remember them. I worked in a small restaurant where we had regulars. I learned their names and what they drank. You'd be surprised at how many people never try anything new. When they'd walk in the door I'd greet them by name and fix their tea or coffee or whatever they usually drank and carry out to their table so they had it as soon as they sat down. They loved it. I overheard customers commenting to each other about my being the best waitress that restaurant had ever had and the other waitresses said tips went up after I started working there.

First best of luck for yr new job. Secondly be polite to customers. Always have a smiling face. Some times u r going to face rough customers. So beware of that and never take any comments heartily. Remember no one wants a rouf waitersss and on the other hand u r not a whore. So my best wishes for u.

I was a waitress during my high school years (many moons ago) but you need to be really sweet to the customer. Be on top of all their requests and don't forget anything. Treat them like you know them. Just go in there with a great attitude and confidence and you should be fine.

Make eye contact and be attentive to any empty plates or drink refills. If there are delays in food coming out then inform the customers immediately.
Make small talk with the customers and give them your first name. Make frequent trips past their table so they can flag you down in case they need something.
Good Luck!

My best advice to you: keep your cool. Try to keep yourself organized (although it may be impossible when you're super busy). And when it comes to very rude or jerky customers, keep in mind that their money isn't worth all the stress and running for them....just do what you can and remember that you are only human---not superwaitress.
