Reign in the massive government spending, Limit the access that special interest groups have to our "leaders" and stop the imperialistic attitudes in regards to foreign policy.
I would improve the public school system by increasing teacher's wages but require more extensive training.
I would limit to two years of welfare for all able bodied recipients then option to civil or military service.
I would support limitations on punitive damages in civil cases, and increase penalties on frivolous cases.
I would demand congress enact a long range energy policy NOT based on foreign oil.
I would protect our borders, against any further illegal immigration and end the dry foot policy for Cubans.( They must wait in line just as everyone else).
Finally I would get rid of our unfair tax system and run with a flat tax....where everyone pays the same % of their income.

Howdy, as you can see you get a lot of irrational answers. It's not easy being president I would not like to take on the job. If it was thrust upon me over I would not have the same people on my staff that were on my fathers staff. It is a new time and needs new answers.
I would be using more national guard troops not only on the boarders but around the country rounding up illegal aliens. I would impose heavy fines to any company that hires illegals. I would not except "well they had a green card for and answer". These companies know who is legal and who is not. If they can't get a job they have no reason to keep coming.
I would put a demand on the Iraqi government to get their troops in shape. We do not need to stay there one minute longer then is absolutely necessary.
I would also do what Kennedy did when he said we will have a man on the moon by 1969. Only I would say that about alternative fuels. I am sick of the we went to war over oil idea. If we can put a man on the moon we can come up with a fuel alternative.

thats a tough one, but you must understand that no matter how well you govern a country, you cannot make everyone happy, mainly because there are some people who will never be happy...but i do think that I would re-instate the isolationist stance that we took post world war I. I think a lot of our problems come from our foreign policy: how we side with certain countries, owe other countries billions in interest, have a ridiculous trade deficit, and spend so much money for defense when there is so much poverty in our country.... The country is still somewhat young, yah 230 years since we signed a declaration of independence, but in reality, we didnt have real democracy until the civil rights act was passed, or women's suffrage. we are about 50-100 years old if u really think about it....we should concentrate on our own problems instead of betting on world wars

Well, not every American complains. The people who are happy generally go about their lives and don't say much, but the unhappy ones generally make up for the happy ones quietness.
But if I was in charge, I would repeal NAFTA. Getting rid of import export taxes is just plain stupid on a governmental level. That is income that is going to have to be transferred to someone else, namely the tax paying citizens.
I would crack down on employers hiring illegals. If the companies don't want to go bankrupt, they will find a way to hire legal citizens.
I would go down the list of federal agencies and start cutting. Our country has a lot of governmental agencies that are just no longer useful and are obsolete. If they have no purpose, they need to go. That should cut our budget down.
Those are just a few things I would do to get started.

First I would like to say that I support our president on most issues. I don't agree with attacking him on a personal level when I don't agree with him. That being said the problem with immigrants isn't the ones coming in legally it is the people (mainly from Mexico) who sneak over our border illegally. If I were in power I would secure our border so that the only way in to the country is through legal channels this would help with the war on drugs, the war on terrorism, and would end the invasion of illegal immigrants that are draining our economy.

I'd tax everyone in the country $1,000 (rich or poor). That's $300 Billion.
Then I'd give them all a $800 rebate and keep the rest for myself, a neat $60 Billion for me. Then I'd be richer than Bill Gates.

I'd come down on Britain for trying to sell enriched uranium to the Iran military, but were caught!
I wouldn't have made up a bunch of lies to attack a country that had nothing to do with 9/11
I wouldn't have given the rich 2 tax-cuts when Dennis Stockman and Ronald Reagan already proved "Trickle down economics" doesn't work!
I would not have signed 807 slips saying I was not going by the law.
I would have never tried to claim that "DETAINEES" weren't entitled to be tried, and were not protected by the Geneva Convention!
I would not have cut the Veterans Affairs budget this year, and flat-line it for the past 5 years!
If I were to attack Iraq, it would have been the way it was done in Operation Desert Fox!
"Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Henry H. Shelton echoed Cohen's assessment. "I am confident that the carefully planned and superbly executed combat operations of the past four days have degraded Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction [WMD] programs, his ability to deliver weapons, and his ability to militarily threaten the security of this strategically important Persian Gulf region," Shelton told reporters. The JCS chairman said the U.S. combatant commander responsible for the planning and execution of the aerial assault, Gen. Anthony C. Zinni, commander in chief of the U.S. Central Command, was of the same opinion.
There were no U.S. or British combat casualties or aircraft losses--an exceptional achievement, in Zinni's view. "Even in peacetime, exercises of this scale can be dangerous and can be very, very trying; to do this without any casualties in the environment our forces faced was truly remarkable," Zinni said at a 21 December Pentagon press briefing.
More than 300 U.S. and British war-planes, spearheaded by U.S. Navy and Marine Corps squadrons operating at night from the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise during initial missions on 16 December, flew over 650 strike and strike-support sorties against approximately 100 Iraqi military and military-related targets. Ten ships of the U.S. Fifth Fleet launched more than 325 Tomahawk cruise missiles, bolstered with an additional punch from more than 90 cruise missiles launched from U.S. Air Force B-52 bombers. Thousands of U.S. ground troops, augmented by hundreds of special operations forces, also were deployed to protect Kuwait or to carry out other unspecified missions.
"The forces participating in Operation Desert Fox clearly demonstrated their skill, their professionalism, and their dedication," Shelton said. "It was one team and one fight," he added"

I would have tried to capture Osama!!
"So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him... We haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him."
—Bush, answering a question about Osama bin Laden at a March 13, 2002 news conference.
