I've seen four different adverts, for Herbal Essences shampoo, Oust air-freshener, Dettol multi-surface cleaner and Gillette Nitro razors all claiming that they have been voted Product of the Year.
First of all, who votes for this, as they all seem to be cosmetic/cleaning products and why are there so many of them?
Surely they should claim to be "one of the Products of the Year."
it's not an incentive for me to buy any of them over any other, so when did it all start?

Oh my god, give this man "Question of the year" !

The are different catagories for Product of the year for example Beast Major brand hair colourant , if you read closely sometimes it will say. And I think you can vote ay places like superdrug, at least I recall some sort of voting slip. Not sure when it all started though.

Me and my wife have been saying the same thing all week.

I think maybe it's Good Housekeeping Product of the Year, or Kitchen Awards Product of the Year, or Product of the Year as sponsored by Dettol.
Hell, I'll host my own awards and give myself Yahoo Answerer of the Year. Yes. Sounds good.

It all started when Dressmaker of the Year needed more money and got together with Red Carpet of the Year, Best Catering of the Year and Best Glossy Rag of the Year.

The world saw that it was good and ditched those who didn't win.
