If he has not changed his ways then terminate his rights.
If he is not going to be a positive example in your children's lives, if he is abusive and isn't going to teach them any good morals then he is not someone who needs to be a part of their lives.

His rights may effectively be terminated by his incarceration unless of course he may be eligible for parole in 2 years or he may get out sooner. If he is expected to be there a full 15 years it likely isn't necessary unless you remarry and your new husband would like to adopt the children and give them his last name. I'm very sorry to hear you've had to endure such a terrible thing , you don't get that kind of jail time unless you've really been a terrible person. You have every right as a parent to protect your child in any manner you deem fit in my opinion . I wouldn't hesitate to do so just in case he could force visitation with the children and have them visit him in prison, that is certainly not a good thing. My final answer given what I've mentioned would be a yes .

if u want to petition to have his rights terminated, you will have to pay for an attorney, and it could be very time consuming as well as emotionally and financially draining.
you have 15 years to make a decision on this-- don't rush into it. In 15 years-- the children may decide on their own that his rights have been terminated --- or, in 15 years-- he may go through some level of rehabilitation... and come out realizing that he needs to do better for his children.
You're in control of this situation now. you don't have to have any contact with him and neither do the children.

If you could terminate his rights you should do so. Unfortunately in all but very extreme cases he would have to sign off his parental rights. You can go to court and get sole custody. As he is incarcerated for the next 15 years you should have no problem doing so. I wish you and your children the best of luck. Take care.

YOU don't have the power to terminate his parental rights.
If my ex was in a fight with Health and Human Services, his rights would have been terminated a long time ago, but he isn't because I have custody. So it all just gets ignored.

Yeah, I agree that bestfriend telling you to terminate his right with his kids. what he did was wrong, and you will not pay for his mistakes. You have married that man, you show him love, showing him that you support him all those years. But he chose to abusive to you and kids. He the one who going to pay the prices. I am shocked that his bestfriend recommand to you to do that. and I agree with that. Do you want him to find his kids and you and beat the crap out of you again when he gets out of jail????????

I mean da only way his parental rights can be terminated is if he sign papers for that if he does u would have to have a pretty strange case against him to prove they should be tooken away but if he's doing 15yrs don't even worry about it

WEll he is in jail for 15 yrs so dont worry you dont have to go see him no one can make you do that and depending on how old the kids are they probably would not want to have anything to do with him anyways. but if you feel that you should take his parental right
to feel safer then do it . it would probably be best anyways.talk to your lawyer see what he recomends you do.

That's hard to say but if you want to go ahead it's your life and kids you should want the best for them and a man that beats his children is not the one you need around. If he don't want the rights than you can sue for full custody.

I dont know if you can terminate his rights, since they are his. You can petition to get sole custody. Might want to talk to a lawyer and get some professional advice.
