That is a great idea! Another one probably is to increase the traffic in Yahoo network to get more customers to those advertisers.

For marketing what? Besides the huge work of compiling and processing the tons of information per minute, they would need to separate all the people into target groups, by gender, age, LOCATION (this one is extremely important, because a product is not for sale worldwide) and some other variables. I haven't seen here market research for any kind of products or concepts. But if you think about anything hardly enough, you'll always be able to raise conspiracy theories of any kind.

Conspiracy is defined as -an agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act. I don't see how offering a free service that people can use or not use constitutes a conspiracy. It is, however a marketing tool and there is nothing illegal about that - Yahoo is a business and the purpose of a business is to be profitable. If you are that worried about it, don't use it.

The internet have been released to public for this purpose. This is the first time in history they can spy at that scale. But it is primary used for National Defence, since the first Pope, they were sendind people to spread rumors, and look how peoples react. Now it's same but a very massive scale....

Look about Echelon, and Global Education 2000, and investigate the other's links, it's very serious :
