I don't think the school psycologist shows this picture to kids anymore, but who remembers the picture of the old woman, and the young woman, in the same photo. If you grew up in the 50's, 60's, or 70's. I'm certain you've been shown this photo on numerous occasions during your grade school tenor. First one to tell me if there is a name for that kind of photo, or a link to that particular photo, and you have ten points...

I remember the photo. It was a positive/negative type optical illusion photo, similar to yen/yang. The old lady could be seen if you were looking at the white portion of the picture and if I remember correctly she had a big nose. When you looked at the black portion of the photo, you could see the profile of a beautiful young woman. I kind of get the impression that that is to let you know that even though you are young and beautiful in your youth, you are going to be really ugly when you get old.

Yes - when you turn the picture one way, it shows a young girl. When you turn the picture upside down so the top is on the bottom and the bottom is on the top, it shows a picture of an old lady with big nose, hair in a bun, etc.
I remember seeing that drawing more recently with the captions (one on each end) "Before 6 beers" and "After 6 beers"
I don't know where you can find it now, however.

The Rorschach test is the test with the ink blots. And the Thematic Apperception Test has the picture with the young woman and old woman. This test is a projective test that presents pictures and asks you to create a story about each picture.
I'm 24 and yes they still show this picture.

try looking for optical illusions online. Some other similar famous ones are the duck and rabbit one, and there is also one of an old man with a beard/ two people kissing.
I was in school in the 90's and these items are just classic optical illusions that were used for entertainment, so they should still be around.

I remember the picture and I've seen it reproduced in books as an example of an optical illusion. It also was used in some psychology courses. Try searching for optical illusions.

I think I know what you're talking about. It was a picture in which held one way you would see and old lady but when flipped upside down it was a young woman. These types of pics are optical illusions. I'm at work right now and don't have the time to look it up directly but this should get you started.

I certainly saw it. Fortunately I saw the young lady, who was HOT, BTW. But I'm not in that field and don't know the name of the photo, sorry.

I know which one you mean--like the one of the young woman at her dressing table which is also a skull. Great--now I'm going to wonder all day long.

Interesting that you said "no children," because I'm pretty sure I saw one in my 10 year old's math class the other day. I know what you're talking about, but have no idea what they're called.

My time period but I don't remember that. I didn't see the school psychologist though in grade school. You've got my curiousity though because it's probably something I've seen and just don't remember.
