One of the widely available aquarium fish, the kissing gourami has been around for many years. Although often sold as a community fish they can be quite aggressive and should not be kept with smaller fish

i agree-have gouramis, ghost shrimp , guppies, and a few others in my tank so i know they're compatible. your bettas will not like any fish that try to stay on the same level (ie--top of tank) as them and will constantly chase and attack any that do.

The shrimp and the guppies are the best tank bet. Betas will kill a kissing fish, as well swordtales.

A kissing gourami will get along fine with guppies. Should also be fine with a swordtail and male betta.

personaly i would not put a betta in with any fish of the same size or breed.
