To be honest, unless we elect people willing to "shake up the system", it will be more of the same. Simply being a Democrat or Republican doesn't matter much any more. There are a great number on both sides who are more concerned with appealing to their constituency and corporate sponsors than they are in working out viable solutions for American's future. Unless voters actually start to value views and ideas over party affiliation, nothing will change except maybe Bush will get to use his veto pen more often.
“A statesman is he who thinks of the future generations, and a politician is he who thinks of the upcoming elections.” - Abraham Lincoln

There is a world of difference between "accept with open arms" and "fighting them at every step", especially if (as I suspect) by "accept with open arms" you mean let the Democrats get every thing they want.
Members of congress have a responsibility to the people who elected them, even if the party to which the member belongs is in the minority. Have the Democrats not fought Republicans on many, if not every, issue ? Of course they have - it would've been irresponsible of them not to. They've even, at times, filibustered legislation and Judicial nominees.
If the Democrats take control of either or both houses of congress, Republicans will politely give up power then settle into a role as the opposition party - just as the Democrats did starting in the fall of 1994. Republicans will do their best - from a minority position - to advance the conservative agenda, just as Democrats have done for their agenda.
Although having a majority in congress gives one party an edge, it doesn't mean they have complete domination. It hasn't been that way for Republicans and it wont be that way for Democrats.
[edit]
Another thing. In response to Jim W's answer above: He apparently thinks that a Republican representative (in the minority) would be "serving his constituents" by not fighting Democrats on issues. Please. His/Her constituents are the people that elected him/her - not the whole country. I doubt he or you feel the same way about the current Democratic opposition. Grow up.

HH - the question needs to be addressed now by the democrats. Are they working with open arms and ideas to help benefit you & I? Have they offered any solutions to current issues that are worthy of consideration? I can tell you this they will support America, the troops, and offer constructive criticisms with soultions. Something that I don't see coming from the other side currently. BUT let's not put the wagon in front of the horse - you have many seats that need to be filled - and as bad a the media portrays Dubya - the majority of America can read right through the MSM propaganda. Don't put too much faith into polls & surveys - they can be manipulated and are vague.

the democrats will regain the house and senate but will they be able to transform america or will we have the same old thing .
WHAT america needs is a president of the people who is willing to make hard choices to get america back on track .WE have slowly been knocked of the track for 40 years now and we seem un able to get back on track with initiatives that produce greater wealth for all americans and an enviorment that supports all its people and not just the chosen few selected to run america and its companies and employee's.WOW take a breath .

No, cause how would they then be able to rob the American people if remember how a senator had to leave the republican party becoming an independant for reasons of good conscience... he being one of very few to recieve an anthrax letter... when Bush wanted to push for stem cell research....
My question is what does he know that someone with access to weapons grade anthrax would want silenced... hmmm...
reasons of good conscience... hmmm....

There a little prognostication there, but let's say you premise hold true and democrats take control. I believe we'll have the same government with only the sides changing.

We will accept them in the same loving spirit of brotherhood and bipartisanship the liberals have shown for the GOP politicians.
Does that answer your question?

I am no sure what will happen in November but what ever does happen we have to try to work with what we have. I will not, however, compromise my beliefs and values in the name of getting along I am true to my convictions.
