drive, habit, correcting,I I always rude, into a habit of correcting,
that whole question needs completely reworked. You should have said: My older sister got me into a habit of correcting people when they use the word seen in the incorrect context. Am I rude for doing so?
if my correcting your grammar and spelling does not offend you then go ahead and do it, but yes it is rude unless it is someone like your child or smaller sibling and you are doing it to educate them. Be prepared that some people will be offended, and you have to except the consequences.

I ALWAYS correct people on their grammar. It's just one of the things that annoy me. I think it's important to have a language that everybody can understand and that the only way to keep such a language is by making sure it doesn't get bastardised by stupid mistakes like that. For example, the word "Phwoar" is now in the English Dictionary. It's NOT a word, it's an exclamation. Another example is when people say "Aks" instead of "Ask". It's just laziness to not even know how to speak your only language. Kudos to your sister.

It isn't "always" "rude" to make a "habit" of "correcting" people. It depends on who it is. Wouldn't go over so well if it is someone older in a position of authority to you.
But it drives me more crazy when people say they "could care less" instead of "couldn't care less."

I don't think I would correct somebody unless I knew them pretty well and I could do it in a joking matter. Other than that, I would say it might be kind of rude.

I think its rude to correct anyone. I believe you should set an example by repeating in conversation I saw it over there.

bad grammar drives me crazy! i once had an english teacher, who, upon passing a sign in a shop window with an apostrophe in the wrong place, entered the shop and gave the owner a row about their grammar... god help me if i turn out like that! it just niggles with me though, especially when people get, their, they're and there wrong.

some people can take it, others will shoot you. Ive been a grammer nazi for about a year. the biggest one that pisses people off is: rearing children, rather than raising children. because it's so misused
