Fish can drown.. contrary to all the other answers. But as a joke.. you still have 5.... only difference is that 2 are dead.
(To drown a fish, one must drag the fish backwards in the water to make the flow of water through his gills move backwards, therefore making him devoid of air. GO BACK TO SCHOOL!!)

5.. you still have five fish, even though 2 are dead. You CAN drown fish by the way, if you drag them backwards by the tail. Air will go out their gills and all the air will come out. But please don't try it poor fish. And if they are in water with no oxygen they can drown (fish don't breathe water, their gills seperate the oxygen from the water, store the oxygen in their longs, and drain out the water).

5 cause fish have gills so they can't drown they breath in water. yet if you took them out of the water they could drown from our air. so 3 if you took them out of the water. but 5 if you kept them in the tank.
