I bite my nails, but am now stopping. You can buy from the chemist, products that make your nails taste disgusting which stops you wanting to bite them. Also, carry round a pot of your favourite hand cream and rub it into your nails every so often,it encourages nail growth and doesn't taste very nice. Another tip is what I do. If you suddenly realise your nails are in your mouth, I know you can do it sub-conciously, remove them and run through the alphabet, by the time you reach z, the urge will be gone. It distracts you from nail biting. Finally, when your nails get long enough, get a manicure done, it will stop you biting, as you wont want to destroy your gorgeous nails.

I asked this question a while back and didn't really get many answers. I am 33 and I still bite mine too. I have grown them out a couple of times but I always end up biting them off again. Usually I don't even realize that I am biting them so it's hard to stop if you don't even realize you are doing it. It's frustrating to me too that I can't stop. So although I don't have any answers for you I just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone and I know how hard this habit is to break.

I'm 26 and bite my nails still, I keep the nail in my mouth and push it through the little gaps in my teeth. People think i'm on E chewing my lips. Dont worry about it. You do it for a reason but I cant be arsed getting into it just now but its a nervous thing. Ask a phsycologist. Happy biteing.

I used to bite my nail so my parents asked at the chemist for something to stop me from doing that. And she gave me like this clear nail varnish stuff that you put on your nails (you can't tell it's there) and then when you want to bite your nails it tastes horrible and bitter. The only downside is that you can't really eat finger food because that will taste manky too! But I've stopped now thanks to that and have long nails that all my friends think are fake!

its called a nail clipper - go out and buy one and stick it in ur pocket so when u feel the urge to bite u can reach for it. Gosh, why are so many people in need of learning how to behave correctly. Only animals bite nails.

My dad is almost 52 and he still bites his. And that's where I get it from.
My sis-in-law has the same problem and the way she hadnled it was by taking care of her nails. Pushing the skin back gently after bathing, taking care of dry cuticles. Keeping them filed, and painting them. The painting is more for the visual, so that way you can say, "I've painted my nails, they look so nice, so I'd better not ruin them." Use olive oil if you have dry cuticles. Also putting the oil on them and massaging them will promote nail growth.

That's a sure bad habit, being 30 you shoyuld not be doing that, and I hope you are not married and having children, otherwise your children may learn that "dirty" habit from you.
Just cut your nails short evertime you see them grown., in this way you have no chance biting them. Start doing it now, remember,"when there's a will, there's a way"!

here is something I've used before. Mix hot sauce into your clear nail polish and paint onto fingertips. Make sure you do not use this method if your hands are in contact with your eyes a lot though!
