I've got 2 baby betta fish and not sure how to determine the gender of both. I want to feed them good to make them healthy, but not fat. So it would be nice if anybody could suggest me good food for the babies... They are around 2 months old. Any other tips to take care of them is most appreciated. :-)

1. How old are ur babies? u know what, just give'em small amount of food everyDay if they are new borns. 'Coz they need the nutrients to grow. But don't feed them too much 'coz then they'll die.
To know if u babes had enough food just see if they swim around exitedly. If they do, then give'em a bit more 'coz they are hungry. Beta are not like tropical fish, they are sometims silly as goldfish 'coz they don't know a thing to control their appetites.
2. Change water frequetly, but not using any equipment. U need to take the old dirty water from the tank & re-fill it with fresh water. Don't use equipmets 'coz they give off too much heat that are bad 4 ur fish. Even though no 1 says the equipments are like this but they do have this bad effect.
Fresh new water contains oxygen & oxygen helps ur fish get energetic & active. They do excercises more often as u change fresh water 4 em. That way, u won't be afarid that they get fat

depending on how old your babies are, you should be feeding them a liquid baby fish food. most very small fish cannot eat flakes right at first even if you squish it up tiny. you can pick up a fairly decent baby food liquid at wal-mart. then gradually introduce them to solids, just like a human baby.
also, because these are Betta fish, and not regular fish, you need to be very careful with the water in the tank. even slight temp changes could be fatal to them. you should have your tank only about 3/4 full with a plate or something in front of your filter so that there is little to no turbulence in the water. Betta fish are naturally from a murky dim environment, so keeping your tank as close as possible to the natural habitat would be beneficial.

hope this is helpful

First, not matter male or female, just separate them. Second, add water conditioner with abit of salt in the water and feed them bit by bit personally and you will grow to know what they like and the time they would usually eat when you get to know them better. Try feeding them smash potato, mosquito larva, small shrimp or any small insect etc two to three time a day, and you may increase as you grow to know them better. But no matter what, food with no oil please.

Frozen brine shrimp that have been fed spirulina are the best for health, also pureed beef heart. Separate them now and add aquarium salt to the water.
