Punk rock is more complaining and alot of times political, like NOFX. Metal is alot of guitar, very frenetic sometimes, and lots of screaming. Alot of things can be classified as emo.A big emo band right now is Hawthorne Hights, although, if anything, all the genres you described could be the same thing except for how the artist looks.

punk rock is kinda just rock but usually more directed to the younger crowd like teens, and maybe some screaming.
metal is just like hardcore rock.
emo doesn't necessarily have to be screaming (alot of bands like dashboard confessional are considered to be emo) just has to have emotional lyrics.

in punk rock bands use mainly the power chords with a lot of sustain, i mean the guitarists. It doesn't reacquire extended musical studies and it's very easy to play this kind of music.For example Green Day's and Ramone's music is very easy to play.
Metal is totally different. there are many kinds of it but it;s much more technical, difficult to play, with many melodies and sometimes very hardcore, and for me metal is more 'music'. But when i am talking about metal i don't mean bands like slipknot but metallica, maiden, slayer, blind guardian rhapsody, candlemass, sabbath, malmsteen, judas priest maybe, ...

punk rock.....simple 3 chord songs... i love punk rock as long as it is older punk...
Metal....heavy distorted guitars, screaming vocals thundering drums...... metel..people think they have to scream and have detuned guitars to be metal...i loev metal...but this nu-metal suck ( korn, slipknot, and other sucky bands like that).
emo ....is pathetic....emo= emotional music.....all music is emotional.....emo kids like Nirvana but =not with all the angst......emo kids are upset cause they didn't get that pony hey wanted when they turned 11
