Good Morning,

My husband and I are going to be starting a family soon. I am looking into getting either a H2 or Escalade. Which do you perfer? Which would be safer for children? Any advise would be great.

Thanks!
Kimberley

PS. Please don't tell me neither because of the gas prices. I have a sports car now that gets 13 Miles to the gallon so getting a SUV will save me a little on gas money. I just happen to love both of these SUVs.
Thanks

OMG! Why would you ever need such eco-unfriendly gas guzzling monsters like those just because you have kids? Get a standard car that gets at least 42 mpg and stop polluting and wasting resources.

I have a HUMMER H2 Victory Red Limited Edition. My girlfriend has a Cadillac Escalade and they are both really nice vehicles. However, my girlfriend will tell you this too, there is no vehicle like an H2. Once you get into the drivers seat of any HUMMER you feel like you have this new vigorating power, especially if you have been through a off-road course at a HUMMER dealership. The feeling of climbing a hill so steep that the only thing you can see through your front window is the sky, going through water so deep that you can reach out the window and touch the water, and parking at the cinema and hearing a child scream "LOOK, IT'S A HUMMER 2, that is my favorite vehicle in the whole world" is a feeling that is unbelieveable. What are you waiting for, go now and be free, buy an H2; it is Like Nothing Else. GOD Bless You.

A hummer has a low center of gravity and weighs more, so it would be safer to frive. However, most people look at the hummer as an ego purchase. You occasionally think of the escalade in the same way, but it can also be a stautus symbol. So, I guess it is how safe you want to be, while knowing what people think of you when you drive by.

Most notable is that the fact that both of those are really hard to park, and that they are so high that when you put your 30 lb 2 year old in a car seat it can be a real pain. Something like the Lexus 350 suv is a more reasonable option. With much more options and it's easier to drive and handle.

Escalade Esv Vs Ext

The Escalade is safer, better on fuel economy, has more configurations (standard, EXT pick-up, and ESV longer), and has a lower step in height.

That last item is a bigger issue than you may imagine, as putting a child into a car seat, or an infant carrier into a tall vehicle can be rather inconvenient. Pay attention to that, and realize that is just one of the reasons so many families have minivans (not saying buy a minivan, but consider the hieght and be sure to think about that as well)>

wow,,a lot of answers,,i own and operate a repair shop,,and in my opinion the escalade is the better buy,,one reason is because i don't get hardly any of them in my shop to repair,,also as far as room goes they have a little bit more room than the hummer, also the dependability of the escalade is much better,,and the ride is so much smoother,,you can look at numbers all day long comparing the two,,but for your own benefit,,why don't you go test drive both of them,,then see what you think about them,,the hummer is built by ,,gm,,same as the escalade,,but the quality is different in the two,,i hope this helps some.

Hyundai Santa Fe. Amazing -- a great car that comes with the ability to make the monthly paments AND fill the tank occasionally!

Seriously, neither of your choices are practical if you're going to have kids. You can never rely on incomes being permanant, since change is the only constant in life. Keeping costs down will allow you and your new family to grow together. What you need is financial security. You'll want money to travel, buy toys, and just have fun!

The H2 has an outstanding vacation and has vast gentle leather-depending seats and also you're taking a seat up larger than maximum different automobiles. The EXT is tremendous despite the indisputable fact that it truly is a pregnent Suburban. Why pay the better for the Cadillac emblem.
