Hi There,
Don't believe the info about the Vit C, B12 and drinking. These nutrients are minimally (if at all) involved in the way your body metabolizes alcohol.

If you want to learn REAL, SCIENTIFIC facts about vitamic C, try checking out a website called "PubMed" and type " "Vitamin C" Review "in to the search bar.
The site will bring up small summaries (aka abstracts) about reviews that scientists have done on Vitamin C. You can choose to order the ones you are interested in. Look for the most recent ones (2005 and 2006). Some of the articles are free to read.

None of the articles will try to sell you Vitamins, or try to tell you about fad diets with Vitamins, etc; they are all scientific publications.

Here is the link to PubMed:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi

Here are some reviews that you may want to look up:
-- J Contemp Dent Pract. 2004 May 15;5(2):1-13. Vitamin C in health and disease.

--Nutr Clin Care. 2002 Mar-Apr;5(2):66-74. Vitamin C function and status in chronic disease.

Cheers:)

I was told by someone in the Pharmasutical indistry that Linus Paulling got it all wrong.

The general feeling is Vitimine C should not be taken in large doses, it's unclear what the long term effects could be to Kidneys and Gall Ballder and Renal function.

I would say 100 to 200% per day is sufficient.

Probably like Calcium with extra small does during the day to keep the level up.

So far this is the lastest information I knew about Vit C:

A study has found that supplements of vitamin C can largely stop the serious depletion of vitamin E that occurs in smokers, demonstrating for the first time in humans a remarkable interaction between these two antioxidants as they work together.
The research also suggests a possible mechanism by which smoking can cause cancer.

Vitamin E is one of the first lines of defense in human lung tissue against the ravages of cigarette smoke which creates destructive free radicals. If the body has adequate levels of vitamin E, this protective antioxidant can interact with the peroxyl radicals created by cigarette smoke and prevent the destruction of lung membranes.

In this process, however, vitamin E can itself be made into a destructive radical. If adequate levels of vitamin C are present, it can help the vitamin E return to non-radical form and continue its protective role. But in the absence of adequate vitamin C, this process breaks down.

What this clearly shows is that to perform their vital roles, vitamins C and E work together. " They have a synergistic effect that will not be gained just by intake of one or the other, and adequate levels of these nutrients is especially important for people who smoke. "

I did my research on vitamin C, years ago and I reccomend it for colds and many things which affect the connective tissue. We discovered an enzyme where vitaminC is used at the cellular level. Mono Dehydro Ascorbic Acid Thranshydrogenase. It is a water soluble vitamin so you can not get too much of it. Your body will absorb what it needs and it can't make it on its own.
