I cannot open attachments on my brand new COMpaq with MS works as my wrd processor?

Works can ONLY open Works files. Word and Wordperfect may need another program.

It would be helpful to know what, *exactly* and in detail, happens when you attempt to open an attachment (behaviors, errors, etc.). Does nothing at all happen, i.e., you click on the attachment and see nothing as if you never did anything? Or do you get an error of some sort? Also please tell us what kind of attachments you are trying to open (Word .doc files, etc.).

Try saving the file to disk and double-clicking on it in Windows Explorer, and see if that does anything different. Or, if it's a .doc file, try to load it into Microsoft Works. (I am not convinced Microsoft Works handles Word files, but I am not familiar enough with it to say for sure.)

You are probably trying to open an Office file in Works. This does not work. Try OpenOffice...
