Oh I forgot,we cannot do anything without the good ol' US of A.We didn't win a war on our own in the south atlantic just 25 years ago,when you only got a draw in Viet Nam.Oh silly me.

Vietnam was not a draw, it was a defeat. With troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, I don't think the UK would have the capacity for going it alone in the Lebanon, even if it were allowed to. Any peacekeeping force is going to have to be chosen very carefully. Maybe just Buddhists and Hindus - although Hindus have Muslim problems too. But there will be UN intervention. Let's hope it comes before the whole of the Muslim community are alienated by the UN's inactivity.

I don't want the Brits in Lebanon. I want Russian and Chinese troops there. Let someone else do something for a change. Better yet let the Saudis and Egyptians go in there and disarm Hezbollah.
