Gwen Stefani's song is very catchy and popular, but what the hell is a hollaback girl? and where does the term come from?

A girl that is willing to be treated like a doormat or booty call. She is a girl that will allow guys to do whatever they want with her and will just wait for them to 'holla back' at them.

a hollaback girl is a girl who talks smack and won't back it up.....
in other words she talks the talk, but won't do the walk.
In order to fully understand what a "hollaback girl" is, one must first understand what it means to "hollaback." When one hollas back, one responds to a verbal insult with their own reciprocal verbal insult. This in itself is not necessarily a negative thing, however to become a "hollaback girl" is something to be avoided. A "hollaback girl" is a girl who responds only with these verbal insults, without ever actually taking it to the next level and kicking some ***. In other words, a hollaback girl is all talk and no walk.
This phrase was originally popularized by Gwen Stefani via her song "Hollaback Girl" from her debut solo album L.A.M.B. The song was a response to a comment Courtney Love made about Gwen in an interview with 17 Magazine. Love reportedly stated "Being famous is just like being in high school. But, I'm not interested in being the cheerleader. I'm not interested in being Gwen Stefani. She's the cheerleader, and I'm out in the smoker shed."
Gwen, upon hearing this, did not hollaback like a petty cheerleader. She instead came back with Hollaback Girl. In explanation of the song she said "Someone one time called me a cheerleader, negatively, and I've never been a cheerleader. So I was like 'Ok, **** you, you want me to be a cheerleader? Well I'll be one then. And I'll rule the whole world. Just you watch me.'" This is clearly in reference to Love's comment. And based on "Hollaback Girl"'s success, I'd say Gwen held true to her word and took over the world.
1.These bitches were talking smack, so I had to holla back.
2. All that girl ever does is talk smack. She never takes any actual action. She's SUCH a hollaback girl.

they explained it on the radio one morning:
like at a party if a guy is with a girl and then sees another girl and leaves the girl he was with to go to the other one and she turns him down and he hollers back to the girl he was origanilly with, shes a hollaback girl. basically, the second choice.

Holla back means to reply.
You no--- i ain't no holla back girl.
That means she isn't going to reply back,she isn't going to react.
Im guessing that a guy is playing with her but she knows his game,so she dumps him and says i ain't no holla back girl.
When she says: A few times I've been around that track
So it's not just gonna happen like that
She's been through it and she isn't going to let it happen again.

Its a girl that is very strong and knows what she wants. she doesn't settle for less and won't let a man treat her like a doormat and use her for her body. She won't go looking for a man she will let a man find her and treat her the way a woman should be treated.
A women should always be treated with respect and loyalty.

when you "Holla" or "Hollar" at someone it means you called them. Have you heard the term "I'll give you a Hollar"?
So a "Hollaback" would be a reply.
Gwen "aint no Hollaback girl".............she's saying "talk to the hand cause Gwen Stephani don't understand".
