In just a few short years? How do you go from pretty much EVERYBODY agreeing on issues in the house and senate, to being as divided as we are today? Did he let perhaps the biggest opportunity of his presidency slip through his fingers?

To put it succinctly, they over-reached.

In the first half of 2001, the Bush administration wasn't doing a whole lot, except a tax cut and the No Child Left Behind Act. The response to 9/11 gave them considerable political capital, but they've squandered it.

Even though he won, the 2004 election should have reminded President Bush that only 51% of the electorate preferred him over a considerably weaker leftist Democrat. That's hardly a strong mandate, but whether or not there will be a reaction in November remains to be seen.

It also didn't help that so many gullible left-wingers, eager to believe the worst about the Bush administration, swallowed "Fahrenheit 9/11" whole. It has been shown to be full of lies, inaccuracies, and deliberate misrepresentations, as have most of Michael Moore's films. That alone doesn't excuse the state the administration is in, but it certainly deserves (dis)honorable mention.

Well he hasn't backed away form any challenge that has come in front of him. Some issues helped gain support - Some issues has removed support - but the man just keeps going in the moral direction. He hasn't changed his agenda based upon poll numbers. Another reason is that the MSM (main stream media) has an agenda that mandates the destruction of Dubya, his administration, and the removal of conservatives from power. Do you really think we would be so divided if good news about his policies were reported? What's really sad is that it takes an attack on New York, the Pentagon & PA for americans to put aside differences and unify.

BTW - Good afternoon.

Because his opponents have smeared him and vilified him to an extent never before seen in the modern era. It is they who have slapped the hand of bipartisanship that Bush held out to the Dems.

Because his view of government is different from theirs. And because they have been out of power in both the Congress and White House, and will soon lose their political operatives' majority on the Supreme Court.

The Dems seem to care little about what is good for America, and only seem to care what is good for Dems (NOT the same thing, by a long shot). They are mostly responsible for the divisiveness, by their intemperate words and actions.

You can blame Bush all you want - but it will never make it true.

It's not just Bush, it's the Republicans in general. They took 2 elections that they just barely won and treated them like landslides and mandates. They think that because they have a narrow majority, they can stuff whatever they want down everybodies throat. They used 9/11 as an excuse and justification for everything else. Riding roughshod over people can only cause dissent, distrust, and dissatisfaction. Then they wonder what happened.

Because he is the man who would be Emperor, as he has had others to get him through college, his drinking escapades, his hot dogging National Guard service, all his failed business ventures,
He had great political advice, and backing you can't believe. Born again, good ole boy Bush. Lead around by the nose, smirking , and thinking he's Emperor, when he nothing but a puppet. Suddenly everyone is trying to tell him he's naked, but he's still preening and showing his butt to the world.

If you don't know how he got to from A- to zero, you either haven't analyzed news from multiple sources or have been in a coma the last 6 years. .
